Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in New York NY

For decades, our studio has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s why clients keep coming back:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our tattoo artists have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Each custom piece is hand drawn, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the busy street level, so you get a more private experience instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: Our studio is open seven days a week with evening hours, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Questions regarding what you can expect when it comes to pain are what we get often as a tattoo shop in NYC. We have hard working artists that make sure customers are as comfortable as possible during the experience. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Keeping away from alcohol and blood-thinning medications
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Having a good meal

Following these steps will lead to a much easier experience when it comes to getting your tattoo. In the majority of cases there is some degree of pain, but to make up for it the body releases endorphins. Pain tolerance isn’t the same throughout your body either. Less pain is typically experienced in areas where you’ve got more muscle. This is because they’ve got a better ability to absorb a needle. This means legs and arms, making them great options for the first tattoo you get. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. The one choice you’re going to need for the best tattoo shop in NYC is Rising Dragon because of this.
