Why Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in Manhattan NY

Our studio has called the border of Chelsea and the West Village home for decades. Here’s why tattoo lovers keep choosing us:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The tattoo artists bring over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Every custom piece is drawn by hand, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, away from the busy street level, so you get private, tailored service rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: We’re open seven days a week with evening hours, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Questions concerning what you’re capable of excepting in terms of pain are what we get often as a shop for tattoos in New York City. Ensuring that you have a comfortable experience is what our artists are committed to. There are also things you can do to prepare your body, including:

  • Avoiding alcohol and blood thinners
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Keep hydrated
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Making certain you have a good meal

With these steps, your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience. There’s usually some pain involved, but endorphins are also released by the body to make up for it. Different parts of the body also have different ability to tolerate pain. Typically areas where you have more muscle are subject to less pain since they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. If this is your first time getting a tattoo, arms and legs are great choices for this reason. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you will need for the best tattoo parlor in NYC.
