Why Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in Manhattan NY

Since 1992, our studio has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: The artists at Rising Dragon have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for more than a decade.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Every custom piece is hand drawn, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the busy street level, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have an old tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Evening Hours All Week: We’re open every day of the week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to book around a busy week.
