Why Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in Manhattan NY

For decades, Rising Dragon has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our team of artists have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom design is hand drawn, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the busy street level, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: We’re open every day of the week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Questions regarding what kind of pain you can expect are what we get often as the best tattoo shop in New York NY. Our artists don’t simply perform incredible work but additionally work hard to make sure the experience you have is as comfortable as possible. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Staying away from blood-thinning medications and alcohol

Following these steps will lead to a much easier experience when it comes to getting your tattoo. In the majority of cases there’s some degree of pain. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Pain tolerance is not the same throughout your body either. Generally areas where you’ve got more muscle are subject to less pain as they can absorb a needle better. This means legs and arms, meaning they’re great choices for your first tattoo. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you will need for the best tattoo artist in NYC.
