Why Pick Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in New York City

Rising Dragon has made the Chelsea and West Village area its home for decades. Here’s why tattoo lovers keep choosing us:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: Our artists at Rising Dragon have over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for over 10 years.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Each custom design is drawn by hand, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the busy street level, so you get a more private experience instead of an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Evening Hours All Week: We’re open every day of the week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Questions regarding what you can expect when it comes to pain are what we get often as a tattoo shop in New York City. Our artists work hard to make sure customers are as comfortable as possible during the experience. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Having a good meal
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning medications

Your tattoo will be a much easier experience by following these steps. In most cases there’s pain involved. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Pain tolerance isn’t the same throughout your body either. Generally areas where you’ve got more muscle are subject to less pain since they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. This means legs and arms, making them great choices for the first tattoo you get. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. The only choice you’re going to need for the best tattoo parlor in New York NY is Rising Dragon because of this.
