Why Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in New York NY

For decades, our studio has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The tattoo artists bring over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for over 10 years.
  • Custom Artwork Drawn by Hand: Each custom piece is drawn by hand, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Have an old tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Evening Hours All Week: Our studio is open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Questions regarding what you can expect in terms of pain are what we get often as the best tattoo shop in New York NY. Our artists work hard to ensure customers are as comfortable as possible throughout the experience. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Keeping away from blood thinners and alcohol
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Keep hydrated
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Having a good meal

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. In most cases there’s some degree of pain, but to make up for it the body releases endorphins. Different pain tolerances can be expected from different body parts as well. Less pain is generally experienced in areas where you’ve got more muscle. This is because they have a better ability to absorb a needle. This is why arms and legs are great options if this is the first tattoo you’re getting. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. The one choice you will need for your choice for the best tattoos in New York City is Rising Dragon because of this.
