Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in NYC

Since 1992, our studio has been tattooing on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: Our tattoo artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Every custom design is drawn by hand, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the busy street level, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: We’re open every day of the week until 9 PM or later, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoos NYC

We get a lot of questions as a tattoo shop in New York City, but among the most common is what to expect regarding pain. We have hard working artists that ensure customers are as comfortable as possible during the experience. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Having a good meal
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Staying away from blood thinners and alcohol

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. There’s typically some pain involved, but endorphins are also released by the body to make up for it. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different body parts as well. Less pain is typically experienced in areas where you’ve got more muscle. This is because they have a better ability to absorb a needle. This means legs and arms, making them excellent choices for your first tattoo. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. The only choice you will need for the best tattoo artist in Manhattan NY is Rising Dragon because of this.
