Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in Manhattan NY

For decades, our studio has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: We create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: Our tattoo artists bring over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Each custom piece is drawn by hand, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, off the street-shop rush, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Open Every Day: Our studio is open every day of the week with evening hours, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos New York City

As a shop for tattoos in NYC, one of the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. Our artists don’t just perform amazing work but also work hard to make sure the experience you have is incredibly comfortable. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Avoiding blood-thinning medications and alcohol
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Making sure you have a good meal

Your tattoo will be a much easier experience by following these steps. In the majority of cases there is pain involved. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Different body parts also have different tolerances for pain. Areas where you’ve got more muscle can absorb a needle better, meaning they generally experience less pain. If this is the first tattoo you’re getting, arms and legs are excellent choices for this reason. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is another reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you’ll need for the best tattoo artist in NYC.
