Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in NYC

Our studio has made the border of Chelsea and the West Village home for decades. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: We create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: The tattoo artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Every custom piece is drawn by hand, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, away from the busy street level, so you get private, tailored service rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Got an old tattoo you’re not happy with? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: We’re open every day of the week with evening hours, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos New York NY

As the best tattoo parlor in New York NY, one of the most common questions we get from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. We have hard working artists that ensure customers are as comfortable as possible during the experience. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Avoiding blood thinners and alcohol
  • Making sure you have a good meal
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep

With these steps, your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience. In most cases there is some degree of pain, but to make up for it the body releases endorphins. Different parts of the body also have different tolerances for pain. Areas where you have more muscle can absorb a needle better, meaning they typically experience less pain. This means arms and legs, meaning they’re great alternatives for your first tattoo. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. The one choice you’re going to need for the best tattoo artist in New York NY is Rising Dragon because of this.
