Why Pick Rising Dragon for Your Next Tattoo in New York City

Our studio has called the Chelsea and West Village area home for decades. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese-Style Tattoos: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: Our team of artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for over 10 years.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom piece is drawn by hand, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, off the busy street level, so you get private, tailored service instead of an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: Our studio is open every day of the week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoos Manhattan NY

As the best tattoo shop in Manhattan NY, among the most common questions we get from customers is how much pain to expect with a tattoo. Our artists work hard to make certain customers are as comfortable as possible during the experience. There are also things you can do to prepare your body, such as:

  • Avoiding alcohol and blood thinners
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Stay hydrated
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Having a good meal

Following these steps will lead to a much easier experience when it comes to getting your tattoo. In most cases there is pain involved, but to compensate the body releases endorphins. Different body parts additionally have different tolerances for pain. Less pain is typically experienced in areas where you’ve got more muscle. This is because they’ve got a better ability to absorb a needle. If this is the first tattoo you’re getting, arms and legs are excellent choices for this reason. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. The only choice you’ll need for the best tattoo artist in Manhattan NY is Rising Dragon because of this.
