Why Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in Manhattan NY

Since 1992, Rising Dragon has been tattooing in the Chelsea and West Village area. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Art: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, Japanese flowers, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: Our tattoo artists have more than a century of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Every custom piece is hand drawn, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • A Quiet, Laid-Back Space: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, away from the busy street level, so you get private, tailored service rather than an assembly-line visit.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have an old tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Evening Hours All Week: Our studio is open every day of the week with evening hours, so it’s easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoo Artist NYC

As the best tattoo artist in New York NY, among the most common questions we get from customers is how much pain you’re capable of expecting with a tattoo. Our artists don’t just perform incredible work but additionally work hard to make certain the experience you have is as comfortable as possible. There are also things you can do to prepare your body, such as:

  • Keep hydrated
  • Staying away from blood-thinning medications and alcohol
  • Having a good meal
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Getting a good night’s sleep

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. In most cases there is some degree of pain, but to make up for it the body releases endorphins. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different parts of the body as well. Areas where you’ve got more muscle are able to absorb a needle better, which means they generally experience less pain. This is why arms and legs are great options if this is the first tattoo you’re getting. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the one choice you will need for the best tattoo artist in New York NY.
