Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in Manhattan NY

Our studio has made the Chelsea and West Village area home since 1992. Here’s what sets us apart:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native born and raised in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Over a Century of Combined Experience: Our team of artists bring over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom design is hand drawn, and we can help you work out layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, off the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience rather than a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Got an old tattoo you’re not happy with? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Open Every Day: We’re open seven days a week with evening hours, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoo Artist NYC

We get a lot of questions as the best tattoo artist in New York NY, but among the most common is what you’re capable of expecting concerning pain. Making sure that your experience is as comfortable as possible is what our artists are dedicated to. There are also things you can do to prepare your body, such as:

  • Keep hydrated
  • Staying away from alcohol and blood-thinning medications
  • Having a good meal
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Getting a good night’s sleep

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. There’s usually some pain involved, but the body additionally releases endorphins to make up for it. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different parts of the body as well. Generally areas where you’ve got more muscle experience less pain as they can absorb a needle better. If this is your first time getting a tattoo, legs and arms are perfect options for this reason. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns.
