Why Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in New York City

Since 1992, Rising Dragon has been creating custom tattoos on the border of Chelsea and the West Village. Here’s why tattoo lovers keep choosing us:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and full sleeves. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • Seasoned Artists: The tattoo artists bring more than a century of combined experience, and most have been tattooing for over 10 years.
  • Hand-Drawn Custom Designs: Every custom design is drawn by hand, and our artists help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • A Private, Second-Floor Studio: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, off the busy street level, so you get a more private experience instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have an old tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also offer cover-up tattoos that turn it into something new.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: Our studio is open seven days a week until 9 PM or later, making it easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoos New York NY

As a tattoo shop in New York NY, among the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain you’re capable of expecting with a tattoo. Ensuring that your experience is as comfortable as possible is what our artists are committed to. These are some of the things you’re capable of doing to prepare your body:

  • Having a good meal
  • Getting an adequate amount of sleep
  • Stay hydrated
  • Wearing comfortable clothing
  • Keeping away from blood thinners and alcohol

Your tattoo will be a much less stressful experience with these steps. In most cases there is pain involved, but to make up for it the body releases endorphins. Pain tolerance isn’t the same throughout your body either. Less pain is generally experienced in areas where you have more muscle. This is because they’ve got a better ability to absorb a needle. This is why arms and legs are great options if this is the first tattoo you’re getting. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. The only choice you’ll need for the best tattoo parlor in New York City is Rising Dragon because of this.
