Why Pick Rising Dragon for Tattoos in Manhattan NY

Since 1992, Rising Dragon has been creating custom tattoos in the Chelsea and West Village area. Here’s why clients keep choosing us:

  • Founded by Darren Rosa: Rising Dragon was founded by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose biggest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: We create Japanese-style tattoos including dragons, koi, hannya masks, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, each image becomes part of a bigger picture.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The tattoo artists bring over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Each custom piece is drawn by hand, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and how the design flows so your tattoo looks balanced on your body.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio is located on the second floor on West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, away from the busy street level, so you get private, tailored service instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Ups for Old Tattoos: Have an old tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into something new.
  • Open Seven Days a Week: Our studio is open seven days a week with evening hours, making it easy to book around a busy week.

Best Tattoos New York NY

We get a large number of questions as the best tattoo shop in New York NY, but among the most common is what you can expect regarding pain. Making sure that your experience is as comfortable as possible is what our artists are committed to. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Keeping away from blood thinners and alcohol
  • Having a good meal
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Getting a good night’s sleep

With these steps, your tattoo will be a much easier experience. In most cases there is some degree of pain. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Different pain tolerances can be expected from different body parts as well. Typically areas where you have more muscle experience less pain since they’re better capable of absorbing a needle. If this is the first tattoo you’re getting, arms and legs are perfect choices for this reason. Our artists are here to answer all your questions and address your concerns. This is one more reason Rising Dragon is the only choice you’re going to require for your choice for the best tattoos in New York NY.
