Reasons to Choose Rising Dragon for Tattoos in NYC

Rising Dragon has called the Chelsea and West Village area its home since 1992. Here are a few things that set us apart:

  • Built by Founder Darren Rosa: Our studio was started by Darren Rosa, a New York native who grew up in Washington Heights, whose greatest artistic passion is Japanese tattooing.
  • Japanese Tattoo Expertise: Our artists create Japanese-style tattoos such as dragons, koi, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, and sleeve tattoos. In Japanese tattooing, every element becomes part of a larger visual story.
  • 100+ Years of Combined Experience: The artists at Rising Dragon bring over 100 years of combined experience, and most have been in the trade for more than a decade.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Tattoos: Every custom piece is drawn by hand, and we help with layout, placement, sizing, and design flow so your tattoo looks balanced where you want it.
  • Not a Tattoo Factory: Our studio sits in a second-floor space on 14th Street, off the street-shop rush, so you get a more private experience instead of a mass-produced tattoo.
  • Cover-Up Tattoos: Have a tattoo you’ve outgrown? We also do cover-up tattoos to turn it into a fresh piece of art.
  • Evening Hours All Week: We’re open every day of the week with evening hours, so it’s easy to fit a session into your schedule.

Best Tattoo Artist New York NY

As a tattoo shop in NYC, one of the questions we get most often from customers is how much pain you’re capable of expecting with a tattoo. Our artists don’t simply perform amazing work but additionally work hard to make sure the experience you have is as comfortable as possible. These are some of the things you can do to prepare your body:

  • Staying away from blood thinners and alcohol
  • Dressing comfortably
  • Drinking a lot of water
  • Getting a good night’s sleep
  • Having a good meal

With these steps, your tattoo is going to be a much easier experience. In most cases there’s pain involved. However, your body works to make up for it by releasing endorphins. Different pain tolerances are capable of being expected from different body parts as well. Generally areas where you have more muscle are subject to less pain as they can absorb a needle better. If this is your first time getting a tattoo, arms and legs are excellent choices for this reason. Our artists are capable of answering all your questions and addressing your concerns. The one choice you will need for the best tattoo artist in NYC is Rising Dragon because of this.
